Download latest version of the DVBLink Server

Download latest version of DVBLink Server for Raspberry Pi platform from the DVBLogic website [1].

Extract contents of the downloaded tar.gz file into some directory on your local hard disk. The archive has two DVBLink server installation packages - for Raspbian Wheezy and for Openelec distributions.

Preconditions

Before installing and configuring DVBLink TV Server for Raspberry Pi please check the following:

Limitations

Raspbian Wheezy

Installation

To install new or upgrade your existing DVBLink installation copy dvblink-server_x.x.x_armhf_wheezy.deb to your Raspbian Wheezy installation on a Raspberry Pi.

From the ssh command line execute

sudo dpkg -i dvblink-server_x.x.x_armhf_wheezy.deb

(where x.x.x is the current version of DVBLink server)

DVBLink installer package automatically adds DVBLink server daemon to the system start-up sequence to make sure that it is started automatically on system boot.

File locations

All DVBLink program files are installed into /usr/local/bin/dvblink. This location is fixed and should not be changed.

All DVBLink data files that need to persist across program (re)installation are located in /opt/DVBLink:

DVBLink server Start/Stop commands

To start DVBLink server use

sudo /etc/init.d/dvblink start

To stop DVBLink server use

sudo /usr/local/bin/dvblink/stop.sh

Openelec

Installation

Create a temporary directory on your Openelec Raspberry Pi system:

mkdir /storage/inst

Copy dvblink-server_x.x.x_armhf_openelec.tar.gz to this directory.

From the ssh command line extract the dvblink installation files:

cd /storage/inst

tar -xzvf dvblink-server_x.x.x_armhf_openelec.tar.gz

(where x.x.x is the current version of DVBLink server)

Then follow the installation instructions as described in the /storage/inst/README.FIRST file.

DVBLink installer script automatically adds DVBLink server start-up to the /storage/.config/autostart.sh file to make sure that it is started automatically on system boot.

File locations

All DVBLink program files are installed into /storage/dvblink. This location is fixed and should not be changed.

All DVBLink data files that need to persist across program (re)installation are located in /storage/dvblink.data:

DVBLink server Start/Stop commands

To start DVBLink server use

/storage/dvblink/start2.sh

To stop DVBLink server use

/storage/dvblink/stop.sh

Record to the attached USB disk

By default DVBLink server records to SD card. SD card has a limited capacity and bigger USB disk is recommended for a proper recording function.

Recording path can be changed in DVBLink configuration interface:

TV and Media Library -> Settings button -> Schedules tab -> Recording Path
