DVBlink service fails to start

Postby realbigmike » Sun May 23, 2010 7:35 pm

MC7 is saying "no tv signal!" and it seems that DVBlink TVsource server is not starting. When I open the config it does not ask me if I want to stop the service, it just opens right up. I clicked to start the service and it will not go. I tried to start the service in Task Manager, but it will not start.

The only change on my PC was when I installed a bluetooth dongle to sync my nokia phone with Ovi.

i do not want to resinstall and lose my recording history, eg.. mess up my season pass recordings.

The log has a lot of errors but I guess that is usual. DVBlink only stopped working on 05/23/2010.

Any ideas?

I reinstalled DVBridge and got this fatal error:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Mike,

I am a bit confused. You are saying that TVSource is causing a problem? You can simply remove the TVSource source from the registry and DVBLink Server wont try to start it: HKLM\Software\DVBlogic\DVBLink\Sources\[your source name].

It is DVBlink for DVBdream. It wont start.

I tried to uninstall DVBlink and it forces me to register a hardware fingerprint to uninstall. It already was registered.

I couldnt uninstall it from Safe Mode because it is an MSI and msiecex.exe /regserver does not work to uninstall it.

I do not have the registry value u specified. This is not TVsource.

I am completely unable to uninstall DVBlink because it insists I enter a key which I do not have for the hardware fingerprint:
Hardware fingerprint: CFF8-0064
Unless I can get the registration code I cannot uninstall.

Nothing seemed to uninstall it and my recordings were being missed I hammered on the OK button quickly about 20 times and got an 000fffff error i hammered on about 10 times. Then it uninstalled. Registration was to blame. Not sure what caused the initial problem though.

The last version of DVBLink for DVBDream does not have any code using the old registration method. Are you sure it's not another source?

I thought I had upgraded it, it is on my main HTPC so it should have been one of the 1st to get the new registration but I dont recall for certain.
I clicked the registration now to see if it was regged and it says "development version!!"
I hope that isnt going to time out on me.

I would like to know what caused DVBlink to not be able to start the service. No matter how many times I clicked to start it would not. I tried to start it from services.msc and it would not start there either. And I would like to know why it tried to make me register when uninstalling, even though it definitely was registered.

Look in the server's log in the dvblink folder.

No idea. You can ask Oberon.
