IR Packages collection

Postby fredx21 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:34 pm

In preparation for DVBLink for HDPVR 3.0, we want to start collecting user's MCEIR files. Version 3.0 will include downloadable IR packages for specific set-top-box. Hopefully, this feature will make it much easier for users to get MCEIR working.

Please post in this thread a zip file include the following data:
- Your IR files (including your -alt.ir if you have any)
- Your config.xml (for your MCEIR parameters, you can remove all the channels)
- The brand and model number of your set-top-box (if you are aware that your codes are compatible with other STB, please write them down as well)

You can find the path for all these files in this post: http://1geek1tool.com/2010/02/hdpvr/hdpvr-faq/where-are-my-configuration-and-log-files

Thank you very much for your help.

Please help keeping this topic clean by only posting packages and refraining from posting comments! (sorry dc1968, thanks for the suggestion)

If you wish, you can also send me directly your IR Package as an attachment to irpackage@1geek1tool.com

Here you go.

If anyone is wondering, IR files and config.xml are in Program Files(x86)\DVBLogic\DVBLink\Data\"Source name"

If you run 32 bit just take off the (x86).

My box is Sasktel, which uses a Motorola VIP1200 but with custom IR codes. These codes work for any Sasktel box.

Ok, after much blood, sweat & some pretty excessive swearing I think I've managed to get the mce blaster more or less sorted with the UK Thomson DSI 8215 Sky HD STB. Here are copies of the required files. Hope this helps.

Here are the IR files for the Dish Network VIP211 STB. I have had no problems switching channels with this configuration.

For those in Canada, these IR files also work for Bell Expressvu 6141 (basically a rebranded VIP211)

Before posting additional IR codes, we recommend using version 2.1 to learn them.

When learning the codes, each code we receive is slightly different than the previous ones. Some IR pulses are slightly longer or shorter. This is basically a consequence of how the IR learning receiver measures the pulses and also a factor of the room IR noise levels.

Before 2.1, once we reached a certain number of matching similar codes (with some level of tolerance on the pulses widths) we returned the last received code as the learned one. Even though that code might be at the very edge of the learning tolerances.

What we now do in 2.1 is we aggregate all the codes received during learning to create an averaged version. This averaged version should be closer to what the original remote has transmitted (noise and measuring errors should be canceled out). Those codes will therefore be more accurate; their pulses should be right in the middle of the set-top-box IR receiving tolerance brackets. Which will allow normal levels of IR noise/measuring errors to distort the IR codes only within an acceptable range for the set-top-box receiver.

For your reference:

pre-2.1 IR codes are binary data. If you try and open them with NOTEPAD you will see only garbled text. These codes ARE STILL compatible with 2.1 and future versions.

2.1 IR codes are text data. You can view them with NOTEPAD. These codes ARE NO LONGER compatible with pre-2.1 versions.

The MceIr.exe(2.1) will show you both types of IR codes the same way (as text data instead of HEX binary data).

If you wish to use 2.1 IR codes with pre-2.1 installations, you will have to hack your installation and overwrite your MceIr.exe(pre-2.1) with the MceIr.exe(v2.1).

Does this mean we can use Hex codes in Pronto format? This would absolutly be the way to go. They are standard and lot of libraries are already available. Most people would not have to use a learner at all, most STB's have already been done.

No, not yet. The current IR code ASCII format is exactly what we received from the Learning API, which unfortunately is different than the Pronto format.

However, I am thinking about adding support of Pronto format. Well, at least those Pronto codes that CAN be repeated with a MceIr blaster (not all types of IR signals can be blasted using MCE Compatible IR Blasters).

Are you talking about RC5 and RC6 Codes?
I have a shareware converter that converts those to raw hex that other software can read. (I do Vantage and other touch screen controls, so I have to deal with this stuff). Other Home automation systems easily take pronto codes but can't take the RC5 and 6 so once they are converted they work fine.

DirecTV H23-600 and HP Elite e9240f Desktop

Postby GSBJackson » Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:59 am

For those attempting to "learn" the remote codes for your DirecTV HD Receiver remote using the MCE remote, take my 6 hour experience and know that the built-in IR receiver on the HP Elite e9240f desktop is not compatible with the MceIR.exe learn feature on DVBLink for HDPVR. You will need to disable the built-in IR receiver and use an external MCE USB receiver to at least "learn" the codes. Once DVBLink for HDPVR has learned the codes, you can enable the built-in IR receiver going forward.

After getting over this hump, the DVBLink for HDPVR works as advertised, beautiful 1080p picture quality.

Here are the IR codes for the DirecTV H23-600.

AT&T U-Verse Package

Postby AFinch » Wed Apr 28, 2010 11:12 pm

Took me a while to get here, but I have my U-Verse box running well. Prefix sends the"OK" ir code to wake the stb up (if needed) before tuning the channel.

These are the MCE IR codes to control a Virgin HD box in the UK. The STB is a Cisco 4585DBV.
The IR codes have -alt.ir files as well.
