Introducing DVBLink!

Postby Oberon » Mon Apr 27, 2009 11:32 pm

After many days, weeks and months of waiting it has finally arrived!

Meet our new generation of Windows MediaCenter streaming connectivity products - DVBLink!

Built on virtual DVB-S technology these products brings a lot of new features and improvements. To name just a few:
- Support for multiple sources of different or the same type
- Support for mutliple virtual tuners in MediaCenter
- 1000 channels per sources available in MCE
- Works for all MCE regions. No need to select Germany for a proper channel scan anymore.
- Scan-less channel synchronization. All channels are directly available in MCE after channel synchronization
- Immediate subscription to Guide service for DVBLink channels during channel synchronization
- and more!..

I would also like to use this opportunity to thank all of our alpha testers, who spent their precious time testing the product and finding and reporting bugs.
I would like to thank all our customers and all members of this forum who believed in us and patiently (and sometimes impatiently :) ) waited for this moment to happen.

Current line of DVBLink products consists of:
- DVBLink for DVBViewer
- DVBLink for HDPVR
- DVBLink for IPTV
- DVBLink for Dreambox
- DVBLink for DVBDream

The beta versions can be downloaded from the Download section of this website or via these direct links:

Enjoy!

Just couple of important notes.

If you have the alpha DVBSBridge DVB-S drivers previously installed - uninstall them before you start DVBLink installation.

If you have previously installed DVBSBridge you may also need to do TV Setup again to specify your actual Region to get correct Guide data.

First of all: Congratulations to whole team !!!

During tests I have one more idea related to Dreambox version. In my environment the Dereambox is connected to satellite and network only without TV (TV is connected to HTPC). So there is no easy possibility to control DB without screen. The remote screen via web interface works not so smoothly. I have to physically switch TV cable from HTPC to DB when I want to run some service/maintenance actions on Dreambox. For serious actions like new image upload this is no problem, time to time I can connect to DB linux via telnet.

In reality I just need few (one) magic command to restart/reload Dreambox. The possibility to have set of customized buttons in MCE plug-in to send commands to Dreambox is more than I can dream. By example "Reset Dreambox", "Reload Enigma". To send particular set of commands to Dreambox.

The idea is to stay on couch and reset/reload Dreambox with remote :D

regards

Hi,

Congratulations from here as well - with the dual tuner I'm ready for my final test!

I have a problem though. The entire process went exactly as shown in the pdf instructions up until the synchronise in media center bit. I have no configuration add-in in my extras library (or anywhere else). I therefore can't get the channels that I mapped in DVBViewer. As I said, everything went perfectly, installed two instances, mapped channels on both. The two DVBLink tuners show up in TV setup in media center and that went fine. It's just that there is no extra configurator at all so I can't synchronise the channels. Asus P5N7A-VM, Windows 7 x64 7100.

Any ideas?

Regards

Hi,
DVBLink is really a great product!
Do you plan to create DVBLink for the TV engine from Media Portal?

Some clarification needed. Does this mean that I can combine two or more sources into one guide in Media Center (Vista, Windows 7?)? For example, hook up one HD-PVR to a Cablevision STB and another HD-PVR to a DirecTV STB hooked up to one Vista Media Center and have both channel listings combined into one guide?

Yes you'll be able to do that with DVBLink.

For now, DVBLink for HDPVR only supports one HDPVR, but this is just a software limitation, the final product should support as many HDPVR as you want.

everything seems great!--after lowering the bitrate for the encoder that is...but 2 questions:

1) After configuring the guide and everything, is it possible to add/delete channels via the media center interface? or must that be done through the dvblink addin?

2) When does this expire?

dvblink channel configuration only takes care of dvblink channels. However you can add or remove other channels and tuners using standard mce interface.
The beta will expire in 30 days but software will be released before that date.

Excellent piece of software. Congrats to all.
I think it' s time to replace my poor DVB-S USB device since it' s only works with ProgDVB

Great, I will try to install it. Since I bought the DVBSBridge4DVBDream software 10 days ago, and it is still very unstable (it crashes every day 1 or 2 times) I hope there is a free upgrade path!
