Windows 7 Tuner Limit

Postby pgriffith » Tue Feb 02, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi all,

I'm coming here from the xpmediacenter.com.au forums.

I saw DVBLink mentioned in a Windows 7 Tuner limit thread.

First up I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere, I did look and couldn't find.

OK.. Here goes.

As we are all aware, Windows 7 can only address 4 tuners of any type. There's a lot of users like myself that would dearly love to make the jump from Vista to 7 but can't because we have 5 or 6 DVB-T tuners and there doesn't appear to be a tuner hack coming anytime soon (yeah thanks MS). Someone alluded to the possibility that using DVBLink software that the extra unusable DVB-T tuners could be presented to Windows 7 as DVB-S tuners and thus all 6 can be used.

If this is indeed the case.... AWWWESOME! :) So, can this be done ?

Cheers

Indeed, DVBLink Tuners are DVB-S tuners, meaning that you can have 4 of them next to your normally working DVB-T tuners.
On top of that the tuners, controlled by DVBLink, can also be shared with other computers on the network running MediaCenter or with UPNP-enabled devices such as PS3 or even MediaPlayer 12.
